Guided Walking Tours

Get immersed in the stories and histories of some of Port Hope's most iconic areas.

2022 features three routes: King Street, and two routes through the historic downtown core. Running for several weeks in the late spring and early fall, our guides will lead you on a leisurely and informative tour through one of three neighbourhoods.

You'll find schools, churches, manors, cottages, and coach houses in a multitude of architectural styles, and learn about the merchants, lawyers, harbour masters, and politicians who lived in them.

You'll also learn about some of Port Hope's strangest and most famous inhabitants, including a tightrope walker, a dentist, a treasure hunter, and a nuclear scientist.

Guided Walking Tour
King Street

Get a in-depth exploration of the stories and histories of more than 30 properties and points of interest along King Street, including St. Mark’s Church (which is celebrating its 200th anniversary) and several homes related to the history of the Smith Family.

This 90 minute (approximate) tour will take you on an easy 2km stroll past some of the most recognizable landmarks in Port Hope. Our knowledgable guides will tell you all about the buildings you go by and the people who built, lived or worked in, and restored them.

Heritage District Side Streets (North-South)

Get a in-depth exploration of the stories and histories of more than 25 properties and points of interest in the Heritage District of Port Hope.

This 90 minute (approximate) tour will take you on an easy 1km stroll past some of the most recognizable landmarks on Ontario, John, and Queen Streets in downtown Port Hope. Our knowledgable guides will tell you all about the buildings you go by and the people who built, lived or worked in, and restored them.
